The Braves have signed Tom Glavine to a 1-year, $8 million dollar contract as he decided to return home to pitch. Glavine started 34 games last season for the Mets and he was 13-8 with a 4.45 ERA and a 1.41 WHIP. The Braves will have a very strong rotation for next season as long as they keep the big 4 of Smoltz, Hudson, Glavine and James. Glavine will be adding to his Hall of Fame resume’ in which he will no doubt enter the Hall of Fame as a Atlanta Brave. He has now started 669 games in his NFL career and he is 303-199 with a 3.51 ERA and a 1.31 WHIP. He has worked 4,350 innings in his major league career and he has allowed 4,231 hits, walked 1,463 batters and whiffed 2,570 strikeouts.

The Braves have acquired OF Josh Anderson from the Astros for righty reliever Oscar Villarreal. Anderson will take over as the starting centerfielder for the Braves and he has some huge shoes to fill as Andruw Jones was an outstanding player for the Braves. Anderson played in 21 games for the Astros last season and he was 24 for 67 (.358 avg, .816 OPS) with 10 runs scored, 11 RBIs and 1 stolen base. The 25-year old lefty swinging Anderson has a pretty good upside.

The Braves have declined the 2008 option on Octavio Dotel’s contract. Dotel was a huge disappointment for the Braves after he was acquired from the Royals at the trading deadline. He only pitched in 9 games for the Braves and he was 0-0 with a 4.70 ERA and a 0.78 WHIP. He pitched 7.2 innings last season for the Braves and he allowed 5 hits, walked 1 batter and whiffed 12.
