30-year old righty reliever Peter Moylan has really been used a lot by Bobby Cox this season. He has pitched in 72 games (0 starts) for the Braves this season and he is 6-2 with a 3.18 ERA and a 1.41 WHIP. The sidewinding righty seems to be trying to make up for lost time as he missed most of last year due to injury. Moylan has been very valuable in the middle innings for the Braves so far this season and they need him to finish strongly.

22-year old lefty swinging outfielder Jordan Schafer is out for the season due to surgery on his left wrist. Schafer played in 50 games for the Braves this season and he was 34 for 167 (.204 avg, .600 OPS) with 18 runs scored, 2 homers and 8 RBIs. But, he whiffed 63 times in his time with the Braves often looking dazed and confused. Schafer also played in 9 games in AAA-ball this season and he was 8 for 35 (.229 avg, .663 OPS) with 6 runs scored, 2 homers, 3 RBIs and 3 stolen bases. Schafer still is a big part of the Braves’ future so they hope he has a full recovery.

19-year old lefty swinging outfielder Jason Heyward was the #2 prospect in the Braves’ minor league system coming into this season according to Baseball America and he’s showing why this season. He has played in 72 games in AA+AAA ball this season and he is 90 for 270 (.333 avg, .988 OPS) with 51 runs scored, 13 homers, 50 RBIs and 4 stolen bases. Heyward is a Georgia boy and that’s the area the Braves love to draft from as it’s home to them. Heyward could push his way to the majors by September of this season if he continues to rip it up in the minors.
